I did not test this in USER POINTS (your version) and I must apologize if you have already fixed this. I am working on my project and had to use these buttons. Rather than check your version of user points, I just slapped this report together, which I didn't think would be so detailed.


There are two green buttons at top of the AUP Users List (in the backend).
1. Bonus
2. Custom Points

I found neither worked as I expected. They acted like they were accepting the instigation and action from the admin user. However, no points were added.

Turns out I had to publish these, and configure them in the RULE view for each rule.

ISSUE 1: BONUS BTTN. There should be a confirmation given or popup - for example,
. . . a. Bonus was UNPUBLISHED, yet the BUTTON should have reported such when it was clicked.
. . . b. Bonus was PUBLISHED, but amt of bonus was set to zero. There could be an IF-TEST that if it is set at zero, to remind the admin user of this and that it needs to be changed in the RULE for this button.
. . . c. Bonus configured correctly, so when button is clicked, a popup should appear saying x amt was given to the users' names. Or i guess you could leave the user names off since this can be done in bulk. or a simple line-item report could be produced so it can be confirmed in one fell-swoop.

ISSUE 2: CUSTOM POINTS BTTN. There should be a confirmation given or popup - for example,
. . . a. Bonus was UNPUBLISHED, yet the BUTTON should have reported such when it was clicked. Instead a form opened to specify the # of points. Then when this is entered and submitted, nothing happens. But it would be assumed something did happen. This form should not pop up if the rule is unpublished.
. . . b. If configured correctly, so when CUSTOM POINTS form is submitted, a popup should appear saying x amt was given to the users' names. Or i guess you could leave the user names off since this can be done in bulk. or a simple line-item report could be produced so it can be confirmed in one fell-swoop.

NOTE: Before a success msg is displayed, it would be optimal if the system could verify the number of points was successfully added, as a matter of error trapping.

I imagine other rules have similar problems and I do plan to check these.

. . . BACKEND COMPONENTS > USERPOINTS > USER LIST
2. select a user by checking their checkbox
3. for BONUS BUTTON...
. . . . a. Click and see what happens.
. . . . b. Look at that user's point values to see if there was an increase.
. . . . c. If nothing, check that RULES configuration, make sure:
. . . . . . . . . (1) it is published, and
. . . . . . . . . (2) there is an amt to be granted.

Would be helpful to make the default description corrected like so:

"Assigns set amount of bonus points to specific users from backend (Components -> AltaUserPoints -> Users -> Choose user -> Bonus)

Summary: Points earned per Successfull Invite SHOWS INCORRECT AMT
Description: when a user clicks to INVITE FRIENDS to earn 300 bonus points on the STHW Club site, they are taken to the INVITE page, but see 30 points (default value I think), instead of 300 points, which is the custom amount I specified in the RULE.

The correct amount does get added when their invitation is accepted and the friend does join. This is reflected in the TOTAL POINTS shown at top right when user is logged in. And also reflected in the VAULT > Latest Activity.

2023-10-24 13:49    		I have found the cause of this now. If you are logged in as Remository Observer, the Q&A extension is configured that you cannot ask questions - you need a paid subscription. But it should handle this in a user friendly way, which it does not. I don't much like the Q&A extension - it looked good in screenshots but I don't much like the way it works in practice. Also it was expensive (around $150) so I haven't renewed the support. I think the best answer is to get rid of it. I'm thinking of replacing it with a FAQ extension since someone pointed me to the old FAQ for Alpha User Points (which could be migrated into a new FAQ extension). The existing FAQ is OK, but too restricted to cover Remository and User Points effectively.

2023-10-23 16:42    		The server was upgraded from Debian 11 to Debian 12, implying a move from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8.2. That made gitlist fail, and forced the installation of a newer version of gitlist. The new version had a fault which is now fixed. Some links have changed with the new version of gitlist, so the User Points develop branch is now found at https://gitlist.bsr.cloud/UserPoints.git/tree/develop/. Everything should work if you start from https://gitlist.bsr.cloud.

Then I went to the link I posted and OMG, i noticed they cant just download it. Tho your intro paragraph says:

Summary: Search plugin results with category option lists category but link is same as file
Description: When the option is set, categories are shown in brackets after the file name. But the whole text is a single link, pointing to the file. There is no link to the folder/category.

Summary: Bulk upload requires auto approve but does not warn early enough
Description: The bulk upload cannot function if files cannot be auto approved. But the user is allowed to try and only told about this later in the process. The bulk upload should be disabled if auto approve not set.

Summary: Error message on install into fresh Joomla 4 in WAMP
Description: Appears to happen only with a fresh Joomla 4. Reinstall of Remository does not show error, even if the component has been uninstalled. Problem is an error reported at line 125 of aliroAuthoriserCache.php because Use_CMS_Groups is not set. Don't know why.

2022-07-23 17:02    		The value of Use_CMS_Groups can be requested from the repository object before it has been set up. Created a public property for Use_CMS_Groups that is set to false until the object is fully set up. Hopefully this will obviate problems.
